My family and I were fortunate enough to stay at Gospenheale Barn whilst attending a family’s wedding celebration in Piper’s Pool. Coming from Australia, I found Piper’s Pool to be a wonderfully quaint English country village and it was made even more idyllic by the barn having a beautiful heritage facade but with all the mod cons inside!
Bridget and David could not have been more welcoming, making the place feel like a home immediately. We had 3 little children in tow who fell in love with Bob the Border Collie and all the toys Bridget and David had left in the barn for them. We were given gumboots (even had kids sizes on offer!) for outdoor exploration and were offered a tour of their surrounding lands.
The barn is a short drive to Launceston and the location worked nicely for us to take day trips to busier Cornish tourist areas such as Padstow, Port Isaac and Boscastle.
The barn was meticulously clean and everything had been thought about to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. Highly recommend Gospenheale Barn and my family and I will be back on our next visit to England!

We absolutely loved our stay at Gospenheale Barn last June. The location of the Barn is fantastic and with a 2 year old it isn't too far from beaches and places of interest. It is so quiet around the Barn and Bridget and David could not be more welcoming and helpful! The afternoon tea on arrival is a lovely touch!

We absolutely loved out stay that we are returning this June with our now nearly 4 year old who is just as excited as us to go!

You will not be disappointed staying here-It truly is a special place to holiday.

Our latest of many times at the Barn was at the beginning of September and we had a lovely week, as usual. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming and the Barn was cosy and well equipped. We enjoy using the Barn as a base for many visits to the local National Trust places and beaches nearby. Mum and Dad enjoyed their crab sandwiches at Crackington Haven and I enjoyed our trips to Tavistock and Tintagel. Unfortunately Boscastle was too busy to stop this year as there was no room in the car park! Thank you for the nice treats ready for our arrival and the game of 'spot the difference' since our last stay! Hoping we will be able to come back again soon.
Best Wishes, Caroline.

The epitome of 'getting away from it all'.
Despite being conveniently tucked away off of the A30 Gospenheale Barn is very well located for exploring both locally and regionally. The barn itself has wonderful views and just the right balance of privacy for relaxation as well a sense of security from the very friendly surrounding community.

Given our unfortunately late arrival we were very surprised and grateful for the amount of items that Bridget and David had provided in the accommodation from bread, scones, juice and milk to games, Netflix and postcards it really was all there.

That also highlights the nature of the hosts who it is clear have paid great attention to the needs of guests in order to ensure that this is a truly hospitable and comfortable environment where one can really relax. We enjoyed a wonderful walk around the farm on our last day courtesy of David and I sincerely say that as a city dweller this is the epitome of 'getting away from it all'.

Ultimate Cornish Get-Away
Gospenheale Barn is ideally situated as a jumping off point to explore Cornwall.

Conveniently but not intrusively(!) situated close to the A30, it was easy day tripping from here, and we explored far and wide!

I am lucky enough to have travelled extensively on business and developed somewhat of a critical eye for rooms, bathrooms, living areas and so on. Therefore, its easy for me to confidently say that Gospenheale provides an extremely high level of accommodation and facilities. Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, nice little touches... it has it all.

The owners are also very friendly, welcoming and happy to help enhance your stay in any way.

Finally, Bob the Dog was always on hand for a play if needed. 😉

Stunning converted barn in a beautiful setting
We had a lovely week staying at the barn. The location is ideal for North/mid Cornwall. The facilities are top-quality throughout. The owners, David and Bridget, are very helpful and recommended local places to eat, visit and shop. Highly recommend and we hope to visit again another time.

"Great place to explore Cornwall"
7 Aug 2018
A beautifully converted barn, lovingly furnished by David and Bridget. The owners have given us wonderful tips for sightseeing and for dinner. We also got a tour of their estate. The location is ideal for exploring Cornwall. It is fast on the A30, which leads almost to Land's End. Furthermore, one is speedy in Tintagel. Also to Clovelly to get well, as well as to Dart Moor and Bodmin Moor. The Edenproject is only 45 minutes away. We enjoyed our stay there and would book the accommodation again anytime to explore Cornwall again.

Thank you so much for your excellent review. We enjoyed showing you around our farm and our conversations. As you discovered Gospenheale Barn is a perfect 'jumping off point' for touring both Cornwall and Devon. There is so much to see here with historic houses and film locations for Rosamunde Pilcher, Poldark and Doc Martin nearby. You are welcome to stay again anytime.

We have just returned from a relaxing week's stay at Gospenheale Barn. It is perfectly situated in lovely countryside but only about a 20 minute drive to the coast and close to the A30 for access to attractions in both Cornwall and Devon.

The barn itself is spotlessly clean, well-organised and has everything you need for a self-catering holiday - we could have packed much lighter! It is clear that a lot of thought has gone into the accommodation which is tastefully furnished, just the right mix of traditional and modern with lovely touches such as fresh flowers and delicious homemade scones on arrival.

We were made to feel very comfortable, with David and Bridget checking all was ok but without being imposing. They were extremely helpful in accommodating our 8 month old, even moving furniture before we arrived and providing a big box of age appropriate toys, which was very much appreciated by all!

We were lucky to be able to extend our stay by a few days and would definitely return for another holiday here at any time of the year. Thank you!

Fantastic! Loved every minute of being at the barn. So beautifully furnished it felt like home as soon as we arrived. We had a large family holiday and there was plenty of space and bedrooms to make our stay comfortable. The living room on the second floor gave us views of the lush surroundings. To top this off the hosts David and Bridget gave us a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. All this with tea, coffee and milk supplied alongside Bridget's delicious scones, jam and cream for a Cornish cream tea. The bonus of having a well appointed kitchen meant that we are leaving without the usual piles of washing that we all dread after a holiday. We will return and I feel that it would be delightful to stay there all year round. The location also gives you opportunity to visit both coasts and the Moors all within an acceptable distance via the easy access to the A30 and A39.

Thank you for your comments. So many guests remark that the barn is very 'homely' and relaxing as well as being such a good jumping off point for visiting Cornwall and Devon. We look forward to seeing you again.

After staying in many holiday cottages over the years Gospenheale barn is up there with the best of them. We as a whole family have loved every minute. From Bob the dog, the beautiful birds, flocks of sheep in he nearby field and Bridget and David (the owners of the barn). We couldn't have asked for anymore. Everything we could have wanted and more! From arriving on the Friday afternoon to a warm welcome from Bridget, David and Bob the dog. We were shown around the barn and within half an hour we realised that the barn was well equipped with everything to make our stay perfect, On arrival we had freshly made scones from Bridget with cream and jam, also a bottle of milk, which was welcomed after a long journey needing a cup of coffee. Throughout the week we had visits from both Bridget and David making sure our stay was going ok and to also give us guidance on places to visit. We took their advice on visiting Crackington Haven, which was beautiful. If you have time visit for the sunset as I'm sure it would be beautiful. This barn is perfect for visiting different areas and St Ives was the longest journey, which took 1 hour roughly. We visited the following places also. Fowey (our favourite), St Austell, St Ives, Mevagissey, Crackington Haven, Charlestown, Looe, Padstow and many more. We would suggest that if you want to visit most of these to go early as they were very busy as we leaving to go to our next stop. Once again we could not fault this barn and the owners. Fabulous! Only wish we lived a little closer to visit regularly. Catherine, stayed August 2018.

We have just booked into the Barn for a late summer holiday, after already spending a week there in April of this year 2017.
It is a perfect place to relax and enjoy all of the comforts that the Barn has to offer.
Located in beautiful countryside with far reaching views to Dartmoor and within easy reach of the beaches and places of interest of both north and south Cornwall.
David and Bridget are perfect hosts, and welcomed us with a super Cornish cream tea
which included Bridget's delicious home made scones.
The Barn is beautiful conversion with a warm and homely feel. We are really looking forward to our stay in September.

We spent a memorable week over Easter at Gospenheale Barn. A warm welcome from the Petts and Bob, the dog. The Barn has been developed to provide modern and well-equipped accommodation and there was ample space for three adults, a teenager trying to revise and her active younger sister. We enjoyed our walks around the farm and along the local footpaths. With the North Cornwall beaches less than an hour away, Gospenheale is always on our shortlist for a West Country break.

We spent a wonderful Christmas week at Gospenheale Barn, having returned for a Christmas holiday from Singapore to be with my Mum and our daughter. It was wonderfully cosy and warm, the character of the barn lent itself to our Christmas decorations and it was really homely. We were able to invite friends in for meals and drinks or go out for easy walks around the fields and even went to the nativity play at the local Methodist chapel on Christmas Eve, with true Cornish hospitality afterwards. Boxing day found us on the North coast at Boscastle in brilliant sunshine.

We thank you for your hospitality and friendship. The stay was especially poignant as it was Mum's last Christmas and therefore was full of very treasured memories.

What a lovely place to spend a weeks holiday!! The barn has been beautifully converted and the accommodation is superb. Plenty of space and lots of thoughtful touches really make this place stand out. The home made cookies and fresh flowers when we arrived were much appreciated. We had fun with Bob the dog and enjoyed our chats with Bridget, David and their parents Mr & Mrs Pett next door. We had so many great places to visit on our doorstep that it was difficult to choose where to go each day. The barn is only a 5 minute drive from Launceston so its easy to stock up on food and petrol during your stay. We shall definitely put this barn high up on our list of places to stay when we return to the West Country in the future.

We had a wonderful week, 16h May 2010, the weather was very kind to us only 1 slightly wet day. This was our second stay at Gospenheale Barn and it was just as memorable as the first 2 years previously. The barn is of a very high standard and extremely well equipped. The touch this year of supplying freshly baked scones upon our arrival were welcome after such a long drive. David and family are so thoughtful and friendly that you feel like old friends not guests. You are in a very central location to be able to visit Devon or Cornwall. The tranquillity of the surrounding area is just wonderful helping you to relax and unwind, especially as this holiday was also honeymoon for our daughter who married the Saturday, and we arrived the Sunday.
We are booking again next year but for 2 weeks and alone to truly have a much needed break.

Last but not least, wollen wir Bridget und David ein großes Lob aussprechen.

We have been to Cornwall many times over the years and can honestly say we were 'wowed' by the presentation cleanliness and facilities that Gospenheale offered-the best we have ever seen! A fantastic location for touring Cornwall/Devon-close to the A30, but not too close! David and Bridget were fabulous hosts and the whole experience from booking to final farewell was pleasant and painless, even going as far as buying a standard sized cot for a little son - he appreciated it!! Lovely touches such as fresh cut flowers and home-made scones made this a very special visit. Oh and how could I forget Bob the Dog -what a superstar!-Thank you

My husband and I recently stayed at Gospenheale Barn and were delighted with the conversion.

The building itself is beautifully done. Photos don't really do it justice.David and Bridget our hosts have been very thorough in providing their guests with everything you could possibly want or need, and always very helpful.Would love to go back one day.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at your barn. You seemed to have thought of everything to satisfy the needs of three generations of our family. H (age 4) said before they departed "I would like to stay here forever" and apparently all the way home kept saying how much she missed her friend, Bob the dog. For my husband and myself, it is an area that we just love coming back to as we so enjoy the peace and tranquillity, with plenty of things to see and do. This time, with my daughter and her young family, we visited different, more child friendly attractions.

H actually got to drive a dodgem car at Dingles Heritage Funfair, just over the border at Lifton and drove a battery operated car at Lappa Valley Railway as well as getting to ride on three railways. Both children enjoyed their ride on the Launceston steam train and a day at the beach in Bude. Another special day was spent at the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek.

The best part of the day, however, was coming "home" to the barn each afternoon, playing with Bob, having a chat with your parents over the wall - just like at home - and then enjoying the comforts of the fantastic facilities within our "home from home". We were made to feel so welcome, with Bridget's wonderful scones and other goodies. It was a truly splendid week and we were so lucky with the weather too. Congratulations on retaining your four star rating! Its well deserved!
